Lip Stains: Which to Buy ?

So I’m really not a lipstick or lip gloss gal as I really don’t like having to reapply makeup throughout the day so I like something long wearing and I just find lip-gloss too sticky so for me I find lip stain perfect. I'm also very unadventurous when it comes to lip colour, as I tend to stick to my trusty magenta pink with a hint of red.

The lip stains I will be reviewing and comparing are: (from left to right)
Benefit Benetint lip balm (£14.50)
Smashbox limitless lip stain and colour seal balm (in petal) (£18.50)
Max factor lasting lip tint (in 06 royal plum) (£6.99)
Benefit Benetint (24.50)
Rimmel 1000 kisses lip tint (in perpetual plum) (£5.99)

So the benefit Benetint lip balm I find such a novelty product, its a nice to have, but I don’t use it anywhere near enough as I just fine the gloss to sticky, the balm not nourishing enough, but I do like the colour it gives it just doesn’t last as long and the original Benetint. The Smashbox pen I was actually very disappointed with as I found the pen really didn’t apply much colour at all, however I did really the colour of the balm and how it applied although after 3 weeks of using the product the balm snapped and broke off. The max factor pen I thought was a great product especially for the price as it really doesn’t dry up and the colour is lovely and long lasting, although at times I did find the pen didn’t release and apply the colour very evenly. Next, the Benetint, this is my favorite lip stain I’ve ever used, its a perfect colour, builds up really nicely, applies evenly and lasts all day my only complaint with the product would be the brush applicator and of course the price however the product does last a really long time. Finally the Rimmel stain I loved the balm, it wasn’t at all sticky and was really long lasting although the pen itself, I liked the colour, however the pen dried up extremely quickly (3-5 weeks) and the colour didn’t apply at all as it often released too much of the stain leaving spots and uneven colour.

As to my favorite, yep you guessed it, it would have to be the Benetint, it would definitely be the one I advise the others although if your on a budget I’d go for the max factor lasting lip tint, but I would also advise if you do start using lip tint on a regular basis I would advise you using a lip balm as the lip stains can be quite drying on the lips.
